Great Plains Festival – Arts, Food, Makers, Music, Stunning Views
The Great Plains Festival brings together original artwork, handmade goods, food, regional music, and community organizations at Sesquicentennial Point Park in Lawrence. Our curated marketplace celebrates the people behind the work and gives visitors opportunities to discover and support artists and creative small businesses.
Five  completed editions have brought the community to this setting overlooking Clinton Lake and the Wakarusa River Valley. The festival is also a way to experience The Point and imagine its future as a place for performances and civic gatherings.
Looking ahead to September 25, 2027.
Our next festival is planned for September 25, 2027. We are exploring an indoor weather backup as part of preparations for a more resilient event. We will share confirmed details as planning progresses.

2027: A vibrant celebration of local makers, artists, and the heart of Lawrence.
2028: Deepening our connection to The Point and the arts through shared experiences.
2029: Expanding our regional reach with a focus on emerging artists and local culture.
Why the 2026 festival was canceled.
The festival scheduled for September 26, 2026, was canceled because the forecast placed thunderstorms and lightning risk during vendor setup. Protecting artists, vendors, performers, visitors, and their work came first. We are grateful for the patience and support that are helping us prepare for the next festival.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our past sponsors and future  supporters for their vital contributions to the arts.
